Because the movie was on Sunday night, one of my summer reads. Finally, nonetheless, as it’s been out for two years and I only just got around to reading it. I hadn’t expected to enjoy the movie too much, to be honest, as the first previews didn’t do much to pique my interest. But I was convinced that the characters were worth it – and everyone that told me that was right. I’m glad to have gotten the character expansion in the book, though. Film novelizations are usually pretty worthwhile.
Pacific Rim: The Official Movie Novelization tells the story, with further details, of the film of the same name from Guillermo del Toro. The story follows a small resistance group in a battle for the planet Earth. When monsters rose from the sea, humankind fought them with Jaegers, robots to rival the Kaiju in size. Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi star as the washed up has been and rookie pilot team of one of these robots in one final effort to rid the world of the Kaiju for good.
