Cypress Gardens

From a boat tour through Cypress Gardens’ swamp about two years ago. It’s not a great shot, given that you can’t see anything but the boat, but it’s a really beautiful place. Even if you’re hot and the humidity’s weighing on you. We didn’t do much with regard to walking trails as a result, but we did have a look through the Swamparium, Butterfly House, and the Heritage Room.

Cypress Gardens is a swamp just outside of Charleston in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. The old plantation grounds were officially given to Charleston in the ’60s. Guests can explore history as well as several types of amphibious animals and butterflies. Also of note, several movies and mini-series have been filmed here, including The Patriot, The Notebook, and Cold Mountain.
